About Me

I have been into astronomy since I was a kid. Having never owned a 'proper' telescope growing up,
I spent most of my time reading star charts and trying to learn my way around the sky by spotting the main constellations and
star hopping' to the various interesting objects I read about.
It's a cool thing as a kid to know that a certain bright 'Star' is actually a planet or that faint fuzzy patch is a galaxy.

My dad bought me my first scope in 1984. Little more than a toy it served me well for observing the Moon but
the planets were beyond it (and my) capabilities I and quickly realized that the amazing images in these books were
obtained by using monster scopes  and equipment that cost hundreds of millions! (How so much has changed in 20 years!)

Fast forward to August 2007. After falling out of the hobby for a few years I bought a good pair of 10x8 binos.
This only whetted my appetite and pretty quickly after I bought my first decent scope. The 'Mighty' Meade ETX -125.
Soon after that I joined my local club, Shannonside Astronomy , and met a few people there that inspired me to try my
hand at astrophotography.

Aside from Astronomy, I make stained glass
at my workshop called Tara Stained Glass &
occasionally for fun
play in a punk band called Doc Martin & the Asylum Sneakers.
